Fascia Groove
Function:
- Reduce pressure along the plantar fascia
- Offload the plantar fascia
- Prevent/eliminate orthotic induced fascial irritation
Clinical Indication:
- Orthotic related fascial irritation
- Plantar fasciitis
- Cavus foot type
- Prominent/bowstrung plantar fascia
- Fibroma

About:
A fascial groove, also known as a plantar fascia accommodation, is a depression in the frame of the device that is placed along the plantar fascia in order to reduce ORF (pressure) on the fascia. A fascial groove is used to prevent or eliminate orthotic induced irritation of the plantar fascia when the fascia is excessively prominent (bowstrung) when the hallux is in a dorsiflexed position. During clinical examination, the hallux can be manually dorsiflexed by the clinician so that the fascia can be observed and palpated for bowstringing and tightness and accommodated, if necessary.
