The American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine selects Howard Liebeskind, DPM as recipient of the 2022
Robert M. Barnes Distinguished Service Award
This award is presented to a long-time member of the AAPSM who has devoted years of service to the academy and made far-reaching contributions to the field of podiatric sports medicine.
Howard Liebeskind, DPM
Dr. Liebeskind is a Fellow of the AAPSM and holds an American Board of Podiatric Medicine Certificate of Added Qualification (CAO) in Podiatric Sports Medicine and serves as the Sub-Chair of the ABPM CAQ in Podiatric Sports Medicine Examination Committee.
In December of 2019 Howard became first Podiatric Sports Medicine Specialist to be granted "MD Affiliate Status " into the prestigious, 4,000-member, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Liebeskind currently serves as team and consulting podiatrist to the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA), Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA), South Bay Lakers (NBA G-League), Los Angeles Galaxy (Major League Soccer), Los Angeles Football Club (Major League Soccer), Angel City Football Club (NWSL), the US Men's and Women's World Cup and National Soccer Teams and Pepperdine University Athletic Department.
During an unparalleled 42 year career in multidisciplinary sports medicine, Liebeskind has provided prior service to the FIFA Medical Center of Excellence, Santa Monica, UCLA Athletic Department, Los Angeles Sol (WPSL), Los Angeles Kings, (NHL), Los Angeles Avengers (Arena Football League), Los Angeles Riptide (Major League Lacrosse), US Men's Field Hockey, Chivas USA (MLS), Los Angeles Ballet, Cirque du Soleil, and as "liaison" to Real Madrid F.C (La Liga), Chelsea F.C. (Premiership), F.C lnternazionale Milano (Serie A) and Manchester United F.C. (Premiership) during many of their respective pre-season tours of North America.
