Kevin Rosenbloom: Yesterday I saw a patient, a retired nurse practitioner, for a follow up fitting of a XTERN AFO. It was heart to heart and the patient could not have been more pleased with what we do as clinicians focused on the foot. I told her that we are not saving lives but we are taking the quality of life for people from 80% and bringing it to 90%.
She stopped me immediately and said:
That’s crazy. You have saved my life. Without this brace and my orthotics, I was suffering. Other foot drop braces and without my orthotics, I could not walk the 4 miles a day I need to. I could not live my life the way I need to. I would be dead.
You have saved my life.
